About
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Chris Darby is a retired paramedic supervisor who served London and Middlesex County for forty-seven years.

At 18, Chris started his journey as a first responder, serving as a volunteer firefighter in Lambeth. In 1974, he joined Thames Valley Ambulance, beginning as a Casualty Care Attendant, then Primary Care Paramedic.

Driven by a lifelong interest in aviation, Chris applied and was seconded by the Province to work in Northwestern Ontario for six months as an attendant on a fixed-wing air ambulance in 1982. Chris would also spend nearly a decade working part-time on the local medivac helicopter back home in London.

Since retiring from EMS, Chris continues to follow his longstanding pursuits and share his experience, teaching part-time at Fanshawe College and volunteering with several organizations, including Airshow London. Chris enjoys golfing with his EMS friends, cooking, and travelling.
